A guideline for the first day of programs

Morning Programs:

All programs helmets are mandatory.  Programs require a minimum of 6 participants.
 
Ski Hearts - Ages 3 to 5
This program is designed for children ages 3-5 years. All activities on the snow are geared to excite the preschool aged child.  Fun, progressive and within a safe environment, this is the right choice to introduce your child to the sport of skiing or to improve those who are already sliding. The interactive program follows Mount St Louis Moonstone's Skier Progression Program, based upon skill development appropriate to Mount St Louis Moonstone terrain and lifts.

Sundance Raiders - Ages 6 to 12
This exciting program is designed for children age 6-12 of any ability.  Our emphasis is to better the existing ski skills through fun activities based on weekly lesson themes.  These supervised on snow activities will improve each individual following the Mount St Louis Moonstone Skier Progression Program.  It is an excellent opportunity for children to interact with others while improving their skiing skills, within an educational, fun and safe environment.
 
Sundance Raiders (ages 6-12) Pre Season Regular Season

For beginner to advanced skiers. Designed to introduce or improve abilities. Skier must be age 6 - 12 at the start of program.

Ridge Racers - Ages 7 to 16
This program is an in-house race program for children ages 7 to 16.  In-house means a non traveling race program.  The goal is to improve overall skiing competencies through technical improvement, faster pace skiing and introduction to a race environment through the use of gates and training gates.  Activities are generally performed on selected terrain.  The program combines the Alpine Canada Husky Snow Starts and the Mount St Louis Moonstone Skier Progression program.  Program is delivered by CSCF (Canadian Ski Coaches Federation) trained coaches.  Helmets and goggles are mandatory. 

Program requirements:  Participants interested in the program must have physical capability to ski parallel 90 percent of the time on blue and black slopes at Mount St Louis Moonstone.  Specifically this translates into the skier being able to parallel ski to a hockey stop, comfortable in entry level bumps, side slip and quick stops-wedge turns at gates to a parallel skis between gates and practices Skier Responsibility Code.

Ridge Racers (ages 7-16) Pre Season Regular Season

For intermediate to advanced skiers. Designed to introduce or improve racing abilities for skiers interested in a 2 hour race program.

Slope Racers - Ages 7 to 16
This program is a carbon copy of the Ridge Racers, however, is geared towards the enthusiast who is eager to handle an "ALL DAY PROGRAM". Increased mileage will enable the participant to improve at a quicker pace with the qualities of the half-day program professionally blended into a full day of all mountain skiing and race training.
 
Slope Racers (ages 7-16) Pre Season Regular Season

For intermediate to advanced skiers. Designed to improve racing abilities for skiers who are eager to handle a 4 hour race program.

MSLM Jumps & Bumps - Ages 6 to 8 
This program is geared towards the skier who is interested in being introduced to carving turns, basic jumps, moguls and terrain parks.  Primary goal is to focus on the "fun-damentals" of freestyle skills while skiing with those of same ability.  The emphasis is on safety and progressing existing abilities of skiing skills.  The program follows the RBC Jumps & Bumps program and skiers will have progress tracked with stickers along with the RBC Jumps & Bumps Skill passport.  Participants are expected to be able to put on their own equipment and be able to load and unload chairlifts.  Skiers must be able to ski comfortably on all green slopes.
 
MSLM Jumps & Bumps (ages 6 -8) Pre Season Regular Season

Designed to introduce freestyle skiing.  Will learn carving turns, basic jumps, moguls and terrain park features. Program requires a CFSA membership.

All Terrain Skier - Ages 8 to 12
This is an active program, geared toward the young intermediate to advance skier, who wants to experience all skiing outside of the park. This exciting, active quick paced program will improve the "Total" skier in your child. Skiers will be exposed to all types of terrain bumps, groomed, un groomed powder. Use of the park will be utilized at times as tactic to improve skiing skills. Participants interested in the program must have the physical capability to parallel ski 90 percent of the time on blue and black slopes at MSLM. This translates into the skier being able to parallel to a hockey stop, be comfortable in entry level bumps and practices Skier Reasonability Code.
 
All Terrain Skier (ages 8-12) Pre Season Regular Season

For intermediate to advanced skiers. Designed to improve ability using a variety of terrain; bums, groomed, un-groomed powder.

Righteous Riderz - Ages 8 to 14 
This program is geared towards skiers who are competent and comfortable in both the Outback and Junkyard Terrain Parks.  Highlights of the 8-day gatherings' will be video footage of riders, individual rider improvement in both parks, individual attention and opportunity to compete as a team in free ski events.

Outback Riderz - Ages 12 to 17
Mount St Louis Moonstone's OUTBACK RIDERZ is a competitive team and is geared towards all types of skiers, competing in moguls, slopestyle, big air and half pipe.  Athletes will be competing in local and provincial level events.  Program is coached by CFSA qualified coaches.  Athletes are expected to possess the skill to perform 360's, 540's, 720's multiple grabs, rail slide combinations as well as switch up's, switch skiing/jumping etc..

Outback Riderz (ages 12-17) Pre Season Regular Season

For advanced freestlye skiers. Designed for competitive freestlye athletes. Training 9:30 am and 1:00 pm each day. 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday. Program requires a CFSA membership.

Board Chasers - Ages 8 to 16

A Snowboard ride improvement program geared towards all levels of riders, from first timers, up to the intermediate rider. Focus of the program is to introduce the interested new snowboarder, and for those who have snowboarder already, to improve upon riding progression an on honing riding skills.  Professional instructors are eager to challenge you through a safe, environment.

Want to be Free Board Rider - Ages 8 to 16 
This program is geared towards the young snowboarder who is looking to be introduced to park features, an introduction to the snow park.  This progressive 8-week program will initiate the participants to beginner park features, emphasizing park etiquette, safe approach, take off and landing.  This will bridge aspiration, ability and confidence to handle beginner features.  Participants must be comfortable on green and blue trails of Mount St Louis Moonstone.

Sweet Snowboard Rider - Ages 13 to 17 
This cooperative program is designed for children ages 13-17, riding at an INTERMEDIATE to ADVANCED ability.  Our program is geared to the Snowboarder who is competent and comfortable in both the Outback and Junkyard Terrain Parks.  Focus of the program is to improve present skills of tackling features while demonstrating respect and safe park etiquette.  Highlights of the program will be personal coaching, video of tricks and preparation for those interested in competition.  

 
Sweet Snowboard Rider (ages 13-17) Pre Season Regular Season

For intermediate to advanced snowboarders. Designed to improve terrain park snowboarding for riders who are already comfortable in the park.

Tip of the Week - Members Only 
For those members who ski everyday and would like only a few little tips to keep themselves satisfied each week.  This is a half-hour ski time with one of our professionals to start your day as soon as the lifts open.  Regardless of your ability, we will have something unique for you to work until the next week.  The first tip of the week will be Tuesday January 22, 2013 meeting at the Summit Six Express.

Assistant Pro - Ages 14+

 
The Saturday and Sunday program's goal is to prepare those interested in becoming a Ski or Snowboard instructor, in the near future.  Aspiring professionals aged 14 and up gain valuable experience working alongside staff professionals, while assisting with the safe running of our children's program.  In addition to gaining practical experience, candidates receive on-snow and indoor training, in preparation for entry level certification.  Accepted candidates receive skiing/boarding privileges, Snow School staff benefits and comprehensive training program.

This program require attendance to an Orientation scheduled December 8, 2012 to confirm program expectations, assistant pro's attendance and program's daily schedule.

Program Terms and Conditions
 
1. Each participant must sign a Release of Liability (or by parent/guardian if the participant is under 19) on or before the program begins.

2. All programs are enrolled on first come, first service basis.  Programs may fill up prior to the registration deadline December 28, 2012.  Request to switch your program after January 1, 2013 will not be accepted.

3. To cancel a program we require written notice submitted by email, fax or mail to our Programs Administration by January 7, 2013, an administration fee of $50 is applied to all cancelations.  Refunds will not be given after a program has started.  Program participants who cannot continue will be allowed a credit.  No refunds or credits for lessons or lift tickets will be given to participants who elect to miss program lessons for any reason.

4. All Programs meet at the Mount St. Louis base.  Program classes are held in all weather conditions.

5. All programs must have a minimum of six people of the same ability for the program to run.

6. Inherent Risk - With skiing and snowboarding/blading with many factors affecting your demeanor of the slopes: snow conditions, weather, snow features and lifts to name a few.  Understanding your limitation and abilities within the elements ultimately affect your safety.  Awareness of physical conditions is the key.
