Snowschool Instructor Training Academy

Passionate about skiing or snowboarding?

Do you dream of becoming an instructor but aren’t sure where to start?

The Mount St. Louis Moonstone Instructor Training Academy is one of Ontario’s top programs for intermediate skiers and snowboarders who want to become instructors!

Your Path to Certification

As a candidate, you’ll train toward your Level 1 Instructor Certification — through the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) for skiing or the Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors (CASI) for snowboarding.

Why certification matters:

  • It’s your first step into the ski and snowboard industry.
  • It proves you can safely teach beginners and meet national standards.
  • It opens doors to work at resorts across Canada.

Setting expectations:

  • You’ll get the training, coaching, and teaching practice to prepare for certification.
  • Not everyone is put forward for the exam in their first year. Our trainers only recommend candidates who are ready — and those candidates have a 100% pass rate.
  • The Academy prepares you well beyond the minimum Level 1 standard. That strong foundation means many candidates progress faster — some go on to earn Level 2 certification as soon as their second season.

If you only want a quick Level 1, this may not be the right fit. If you want to be the best, this program is for you.

Admission Requirements

● 14 years or older by December 31, 2025

● Not already certified in the discipline you’re applying for

● Intermediate skiing or riding skills (parallel skiing or riding blue runs in control)

● Availability December–March for training and weekly shifts

 How the Academy Works

December Training (Mandatory):

  • December 13–14, 2025
  • December 20–21, 2025Four full days focused on technical skills, orientation, and preparing for the season.

Teaching Practicum (Regular Season):

  • Runs January 10 – March 8, 2026
  • Candidates attend weekly training sessions and complete one scheduled teaching shift per week to gain real on-snow experience with beginner skiers and riders.

This blend of intensive pre-season training plus weekly teaching practice is what makes the Academy unique. You’ll sharpen your own skiing/riding, grow as a teacher, and gain the mileage needed to progress toward certification.
