Josl Huter Snow-school Academy Indigenous Scholarship Program

4 x Academy Snow Pro Scholarships for **Indigenous youth winter sport enthusiast/athlete interested in teaching Skiing or Snowboarding, with a goal of LEVEL1 CASI/CSIA certifications.

Recipients will receive training on basic understanding of technique, in-depth understanding of ski/snowboard progression, education of basic teaching approaches and work within the Mount St Louis Moonstone Snow School, earn money, be professionally trained, and be prepared for certification courses.

 

**MSLM uses the term “Indigenous” in place of “Aboriginal” as held in the spirit of its use in section 35(2) of the Canadian Constitution, to refer inclusively to members of First Nations, status and non-status, treaty and non-treaty Indians, Métis, and Inuit peoples in Canada, recognizing that many people prefer the terms that are specific and traditional to their communities.

Academy Snow Pro ASP

The program is targeting the Skier/Rider aged 14 or older.  Candidates must possess the minimum requirement of being a competent parallel skier demonstrating control of speed while maintaining linked parallel turns on blue terrain and competent rider demonstrating ability to ride both toe and heel edge on blue terrain.  Academy Snow Pros will participate in a pre-season training program through a mix of online and on snow sessions.  Performance of training program will assist with proper teaching assignment for the season.

Award Eligibility – Athletes must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
  • Indigenous youth ages 14-18
  • Must have a deep love for the outdoors, winter, skiing and/or snowboarding
  • Provide two (2) references and provide their relationship and contact information
